The Winter Cold And Human Warmth of Russia
Osipova Maria, aka Masha started to paint from the age of eight. She studied art at the art school for children. After graduating from the Moscow State University of Design and Technology, Masha went to the Instituto European Design in Milan for her graduate program. Masha is a productive artist; not only has she taken part in many art fairs and international salons, she’s also organized a number of solo exhibitions for her work. Now she focuses on watercolor and impressionism; her signature style is the bright and contrasting combination of colors and pattern of strokes.
Masha working with the "kiwisual Artistic Stones" at "1-art valley"
In March-April 2015, New Stone Age·“Stone Talk” Exhibition & Workshop was held at the Show Street of Upperhills, Shenzhen. On the opening weekend, the participant artists brought 4 art jams to the proprietor families, with 200 guests painting 202 little “kiwisual” stones within 2 days. Masha hosted 1 art jam guiding guests how to paint the stones.
It’s the first time “kiwisual Artistic Stones” brought the creation to non-artist individuals, and the result was spectacular with the help of the participant artists like Masha; the 202 stone works are precious witnesses to the development of “kiwisual”.
Unlike her usual bright and colorful canvas work, Masha asked us to spray the two stones black, so that she could show the cold winter of her hometown. With that as background, she worked on the themes of family and childhood memories.
Masha named the big stone "Family", and wrote:
"I come from such a place,
Cold, mountains covered with woods, bears playing in between;
The love of family is like a stream of water in winter,
Flowing into my heart, and melting the ice of disappointment in life.
Eternal love among us shall withstand the time apart,
Especially the nights of sentiments on my lonesome road across the strange continent."
The small stone is called "A Piece of Childhood":
"I used to go into the woods,
Where sunshine was dispersed onto the ground through the foliage;
The piece cast at the entrance was bright, glaring.
I relocated to another country after I grew up,
And what most often came into my dreams
Was that piece of sunshine from childhood.
Softly I whispered to him: wait for me;
I shall be back."

We sincerely hope that Masha will flourish both as an artist and as a person although she is away from home!
