Artistic Passion Yielding Strong against the Coldest Days
Paddy Lennon was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1955. In 1980 he received a diploma in Fine Art from the City and Guilds Art School in London. He has lived in Dublin, London, Connemara, Mexico and Spain and currently resides in Wexford, Ireland. His works are held in private and corporate collections worldwide. He has exhibited in numerous group and solo shows over his 35-year-plus artistic career.
He is inspired by location, a sense of place, Chinese and Japanese art. He continues to develop his practice and technical ability in his craft, exploring new themes and processes in the development of new bodies of work. In 2015, Paddy came to China and took the residency programs of Dawang Cultural Highland and "1-art valley".

When invited to "1-art valley" to paint two stones for the "kiwisual" collection, Paddy thought it was a great opportunity to expand his normal art practise and indulge himself in some ideas he had been incubating.
To Paddy, the smaller of the two is design driven. It has no home other than that of fitting a design to a somewhat unusual shape. He wanted it to look like something precious, a gemstone or Faberge Egg. He feels it was a success and is an elegant piece which is what he was aiming for.
The larger piece, due to its size and volume presented a different set of problems to solve. Paddy's approach to this larger piece was multi layered and to this effect he used acrylic paint and worked in layers, giving the piece an enigmatic and three dimensional effect.
Although very different in both design and technique, Paddy was happy with the end result and enjoyed the challenge of working with a traditional two dimensional technique and applying it to a three dimensional surface.
